AION 2 Gets NVIDIA Game Ready Driver Ahead of Launch With DLSS 4.5

AION 2 is now officially Game Ready. With Advanced Access only a week away, NVIDIA has released GeForce Game Ready Driver 617.14, adding optimizations for NC's upcoming global MMORPG alongside CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered.

More importantly, NVIDIA has confirmed exactly what RTX players can expect when AION 2 opens its global servers. The game launches with DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation, giving GeForce RTX users additional tools for pushing frame rates in AION 2's large Unreal Engine 5 environments.

NVIDIA recommends installing the new driver through the NVIDIA App or its website before AION 2's Advanced Access begins on September 30.

AION 2 Is Included in GeForce Driver 617.14

The new Game Ready Driver was released on September 22 and specifically includes optimizations and enhancements for AION 2. According to NVIDIA's official driver announcement, the global version joins several major PC releases receiving launch-day driver support.

For AION 2 players, this means NVIDIA has had access to the global PC build before release and has prepared its driver around the game rather than waiting for problems to appear after thousands of players log in.

That does not guarantee perfect performance, of course. MMO launch week has traditionally been quite capable of finding technical problems that no driver team knew existed. But having a Game Ready driver available before permanent progression begins is certainly preferable to discovering on September 30 that your graphics card would also like a few days of Advanced Access.

AION 2 Launches With DLSS 4.5

The bigger news is DLSS 4.5.

NVIDIA confirms that AION 2 will support DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation when the global version becomes available to Founder's Pack owners on September 30.

Super Resolution renders the game internally at a lower resolution before using NVIDIA's AI-based reconstruction to produce a higher-resolution image. The goal is to increase performance while retaining as much image quality as possible.

Multi Frame Generation takes that further by generating additional frames between traditionally rendered frames, potentially delivering much higher displayed frame rates on supported GeForce RTX hardware.

That could be especially useful in AION 2. NC has built the game on Unreal Engine 5 around large environments, long viewing distances, detailed characters, flight and large-scale encounters. The official AION 2 PC requirements are relatively modest at the low end, but NC's own recommended RTX 2070 specification is still only associated with 1080p Low settings.

Players aiming for higher resolutions and visual settings will therefore have considerably more reason to care about DLSS than someone simply trying to meet the minimum requirement.

Do You Need an RTX 50 Series Card?

No.

NVIDIA says DLSS 4.5 support will improve image quality and performance across GeForce RTX GPUs, although the exact features available depend on the graphics-card generation.

Multi Frame Generation is naturally more hardware-specific than ordinary Super Resolution, so players should not assume every RTX card receives every DLSS feature in exactly the same form.

The important distinction is that AION 2 is not requiring NVIDIA's newest flagship hardware merely to benefit from DLSS technology. Players with older RTX cards can still take advantage of supported upscaling features even if the most advanced frame-generation options remain tied to newer GPU generations.

DLSS 5 Is Still Planned for Later

This may not be the end of AION 2's NVIDIA support either.

During Gamescom, Game Director Namjoon Kim confirmed that NC is already collaborating with NVIDIA on future DLSS 5 support. That feature is not part of the September 30 launch build, and no release date has been announced.

For launch, DLSS 4.5 is the relevant technology.

That also fits the broader picture emerging around AION 2's PC release. NC is treating the global edition as a long-term technical project rather than simply shipping the Korean build in additional languages. The studio has already partnered with Microsoft to use Azure infrastructure for global launch traffic, while NVIDIA is handling GPU-side launch optimization.

Should You Install Driver 617.14 Before AION 2?

If you are playing AION 2 on an NVIDIA GPU, particularly a GeForce RTX card, the answer is fairly straightforward: yes, it makes sense to install the Game Ready driver before launch.

Driver 617.14 is specifically optimized for AION 2 and is the version NVIDIA is recommending ahead of the global release.

The driver also includes unrelated fixes for other games and display issues, including launch problems affecting Judgement, Lost Judgement and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., plus fixes for certain DisplayPort wake issues and a Samsung Odyssey HDMI display problem. Those obviously have little to do with Atreia, but they are part of the same release.

The PC Launch Is Starting to Come Together

We have spent much of September discussing server structure, monetization, global balance changes and whether AION 2's launch infrastructure will survive the first wave of players.

Now the client side is starting to fall into place too.

NVIDIA has its Game Ready driver out. DLSS 4.5 is confirmed for September 30. Microsoft Azure is supporting NC's global infrastructure. And the Launch Scale Test has already given NC tens of thousands of real-world PC configurations to learn from.

None of that means Advanced Access will be flawless.

It does mean AION 2 is entering its final week with considerably more technical preparation behind it than we had evidence of a month ago.

If you are planning to enter Atreia with an NVIDIA GPU on September 30, Driver 617.14 should probably be on your pre-launch checklist.
