Party/Alliance Roles in Aion Online Quick Join Instances

People cannot be expected to understand how things work in a game component as intricate and at the same time appealing and potentially rewarding as Aion Online's Quick Join Instances. Indeed, these instances do attract all sorts of players, some of whom simply fail to acknowledge their ignorance and they end up leading their teams into oblivion, thusly aggravating everyone and generally hurting the quality of the game experience. The information presented below is addressed to such players. It's mostly common-sense and rather obvious, but it does indeed hand newbies the fundamentals they'll need to stop sucking and to become a contributing member of the party/alliance.

The first thing one has to know instance-wise is that in every party/alliance, there are players with certain roles and one always has to stick to his/her role not just as part of good etiquette, but also to further the goals of the entire team. Depending on whether one is part of a group or alliance, there will be two or three role-categories. One will be able to easily identify the role of his/her teammates by the crowns that appear next to their names: these can be gold crowns, silver crowns or nothing at all.

The player bearing the gold crown is the captain/leader. He's the one calling the shots in regards to which enemy the team should aim to kill first, who should tank, who should receive a healing buff etc. This is obviously the most important role, and players can fill it regardless of class. There may be capable captains out there not wearing the crown, but it is always best to clearly communicate these roles to everyone in the group. It is also important that if you wake up with this crown next to your name, and you have no idea how to fill the shoes, you should just pass it on to someone else, but always ASK whom to pass it to, don't just offload it on someone. One of the most important tasks of the captain is to position the group properly before the instance actually begins, so it's important to do it quickly.

The Vice Captain is only present in alliances, where he's often tasked with leading a group. Marked with a silver crown, the vice captain has to follow the orders of the captain the same way the other members have to, but he/she has some authority as well, which covers marking when the captain isn't doing it, and generally aiding the captain's work a step down the chain of command.

The unmarked players are essentially the troops and it is their role to follow the orders issued by the captain/vice captain. As peculiar as it may seem, this role is the most difficult to properly fulfill for most players. Alliance members have no authority during instances but they do play an instrumental role as long as they do indeed follow orders. As soon as they step out of line, they contribute to the failure of the instancing group as a whole.

With Tempering Solutions, temper your Plume with ease, as the Plume no longer is destroyed when the temper fails. When you reach +10, purify your Plume to the all-new Pure Plume to unlock additional stats and bonuses.

Only Pure Plumes tempered during the event period will qualify for the rewards. Normal plumes are not eligible.


Players must have a qualifying Pure Plume equipped on their character or in their inventory during our September 14, 2016 maintenance in order to qualify for the rewards.


Players with multiple qualifying Pure Plumes are eligible to receive rewards for each Pure Plume.



For a limited time, Tempering Solutions can be purchased in the in-game shop or web store. The Power of the Plumes promotion ends on September 14, 2016. Rewards will be delivered by in-game mail on September 28, 2016.

Scheduled Game Update - August 24, 2016, 6:00 AM Central

There will be a scheduled game update tomorrow, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 6:00 AM to11:30 AM Central Time. The game servers will be unavailable for approximately 5.5 hours.

1. Update to Aion: Echoes of Eternity will be live. Patch Notes can be found here.
2. Power of the Plumes promotion will start. 
3. Infinity Shard and Danuar Relinquary loot boxes issues will be resolved.

Additional, account login, new account creation, and in-game shop and web store will be unavailable until 11:30 AM.

August Update Sneak Peek

Now that Aion: Echoes of Eternity has made its grand entrance, we will be adding the next update to the expansion in a few weeks’ time. This update includes additional quality of life changes, new quests in the new zones, changes to the plume accessory, the introduction of the Luna Shop, and more.

New Quests
For additional EXP, item gathering, or exploration opportunities, a series of daily, weekly, and party quests in Norsvold and Illuma will be introduced.


The Updated Atreian Passport
In this updated Atreian Passport you can now see which rewards are available each day. When you complete the month, you can acquire a Mythic Armor Box. The anniversary reward box will have updated items as well! Be sure to log into the game to collect these rewards.





Plume Changes & the Pure Plume Accessory
In this upcoming update, plumes will no longer explode or lose tempering levels if the plume fails to temper. You can temper your plume without it going boom!

Also, if you have a +10 or above plume, you can visit the Equipment Purifier to purify your plume to the all-new Pure Plume. During the purification process, the tempering levels will be reset and the Pure Plume stats boosted. You will also select an additional stat for the Pure Plume. For a Magic Boost plume, you can purify it to add Magic Accuracy or Crit Spell. You can also temper the Pure Plume with Tempering Solutions to continue to boost the accessory’s HP and secondary stats. If the temper fails, the Pure Plume will not go boom, but its tempering level will be lost.



The Luna Shop
The Luna Detachment, an independent organization of Shugos and Daevas, is making their way to Atreia and they will need your help. Soon you can visit the Luna Shop where you can exchange Luna, a new currency, for unique services from the shop. Services include accessing a mini wardrobe allowing you to register and reuse a skin multiple times, and collecting crafting materials from missions to create a variety of aesthetic items including skins and mounts.
