NC has completed the War for Atreia creator draft, which means all 60 participants are now divided into six regional Legions across North America, Europe and Latin America. Each region fields one Elyos and one Asmodian team, with ten creators per Legion, and the actual competition begins alongside AION 2 Advanced Access on September 30.
When we first covered the announcement of War for Atreia, all we really knew was that 60 creators, six Captains and two factions were involved. Yesterday, the six Captains entered the live draft. Now the armies are complete.
Europe: Wakayashi Leads the Asmodians
Europe's Asmodian Legion is captained by Wakayashi, joined by several creators already familiar to the AION community.
- Wakayashi
- youmadsin
- DirtyD3vil
- Evangelion0
- PvE_Zone
- Smayro
- Yuli
- Lipej
- AionJanis
- Bourrinator
This is probably the most immediately recognizable AION-focused roster for European veterans, with several members already producing guides, streams and discussion around the Korean and global versions.
That could be particularly useful once War for Atreia starts measuring more than simply who can stab the largest number of Elyos before breakfast.
Europe: Baggins Leads the Elyos
On the other side, BagginsTV commands Europe's Elyos Legion:
- BagginsTV
- SocietyOfGaming
- aselon_eu
- Drunge_
- Entenburg
- Asleyia
- Cabolo
- Alvaena
- tamae_
- Hormain
The European matchup should be particularly entertaining because Baggins and Wakayashi now have completely separate ten-player groups competing not only for regional bragging rights but also toward the larger Elyos-versus-Asmodians faction score.
If you were wondering which side Europe would make look more organized, we should probably give it at least twenty minutes after September 30 before making any conclusions.
North America: Stoopzz Commands the Asmodians
North America's Asmodian team is led by Stoopzz:
- Stoopzz
- Suntokki
- wolves
- Johnpal
- Duky
- ArminTF
- Vert
- XenosysVex
- mattshew
- DankRNG
Stoopzz enters War for Atreia with plenty of MMO experience behind him, but the event is deliberately structured so that having one recognizable Captain is not enough. The entire Legion needs to progress, complete campaign objectives and respond to additional challenges throughout the event.
And because Advanced Access characters are permanent, these creators are doing all of this on characters they will actually continue playing after the competition.
North America: Sonii Takes the Elyos
Sonii leads the North American Elyos roster:
- Sonii
- KanonXO
- SOLIDFPS
- jenny
- laufielol
- iReviK
- Narelio
- Hexella
- Moshi
- ARROWli
There are several creators here with substantial competitive and MMO backgrounds, which should make North America worth watching once PvP and progression challenges begin overlapping.
War for Atreia is not simply an Arena tournament, though. Being very good at killing another player may help considerably, but NC has designed the event around a much broader collection of objectives.
Latin America: Tixinha Leads the Elyos
The Latin American Elyos Legion is captained by Tixinhadois:
- Tixinhadois
- OuluH
- ItsMeMack
- agnesmmorpg
- jhoolna
- Mano_Imp
- ZeusGhostz
- DeathweaverFTW
- gathano
- NecroNixia
Latin America has a substantial MMO audience, and NC has clearly decided that region deserves equal representation rather than folding everybody into a generic Americas category.
That means War for Atreia has three separate regional rivalries running beneath the larger faction war.
Latin America: Rakin Commands the Asmodians
Facing them is Rakin and the Latin American Asmodian team:
- Rakin
- silence
- CAHOS_GAMING
- Trollzinha
- AfricaAlbion
- zPedra
- SerllinoGG
- Gabriela
- MainQuestt
- MochiiYuki
Rakin and Tixinha were among the first Captains highlighted when the Latin American side of War for Atreia was announced, and they now have their complete rosters for September 30.
War for Atreia Is About More Than PvP
With the teams complete, we also have a clearer idea of how the competition will actually work.
According to the latest event information, teams will be evaluated across several parts of AION 2 rather than simply counting faction kills. Objectives include leveling speed, content-clear speed, combat performance and stream entertainment, while surprise Wildcard events will introduce additional challenges throughout the two-week campaign.
That is probably a smarter format than making sixty creators spend fourteen days standing in the Abyss hitting one another.
AION 2 has a much broader progression structure, including the large PvE dungeon ecosystem, crafting, gearing, faction PvP and character progression. War for Atreia can therefore show considerably more of the game by forcing creators to compete across several systems.
Wildcard Events Can Change the Competition
The new event details also introduce five Wildcard events during the campaign.
Each Wildcard challenge will be judged by a separate guest headliner, and Captains must bring in a different guest creator for every Wildcard. The same guest cannot simply be reused for all five events.
NC has not yet revealed all of the guest judges or exactly what every challenge involves.
That unpredictability appears deliberate. War for Atreia is supposed to function partly as a competitive event and partly as launch entertainment, so dropping unexpected tasks on teams gives everybody something to react to beyond watching another progress bar fill.
The Official War for Atreia Schedule Is Now Live
The official War for Atreia War Table now provides the main broadcast schedule for the entire event.
- September 30: First Strike – 10:00 AM PDT / 19:00 CEST
- October 5: War Desk – 10:00 AM PDT / 19:00 CEST
- October 12: War Desk – 10:00 AM PDT / 19:00 CEST
- October 15: War for Atreia Ascension – 10:00 AM PDT / 19:00 CEST
First Strike officially begins the war on September 30 alongside AION 2 Advanced Access.
The first War Desk broadcast arrives on October 5, conveniently landing on the game's full free-to-play global launch. A second standings show follows October 12 before the October 15 finale crowns both the winning faction and Legion.
Viewer Rewards and Twitch Drops Are Part of the War
Players who are not among the sixty creators are not completely outside the event either.
NC has confirmed exclusive viewing rewards and follow-up Twitch Drops during War for Atreia. Campaign performance also includes audience recruitment, meaning creators are effectively competing both inside the game and for support outside it.
The exact reward structure is still being rolled out, but NC has already launched its AION 2 Twitch Drops infrastructure ahead of September 30.
That makes War for Atreia something slightly different from a conventional esports event. You do not just watch six fixed teams compete in isolated matches. The creators are playing the actual live MMO, building permanent characters while the rest of the community enters the same world.
The Draft Is Over. Now We Need an Actual War
War for Atreia has become considerably more interesting over the past few days.
It started as a vague announcement involving 60 creators.
Then we got six Captains.
Now we have all 60 names, six completed regional Legions, confirmed faction assignments, Wildcard challenges and a broadcast calendar running from Advanced Access through October 15.
The next step is the useful one.
On September 30, everybody stops drafting and actually starts playing.
And because AION has always worked best when Elyos and Asmodians have a reason to become irrationally invested in disliking one another, War for Atreia may prove to be a rather effective way of starting the global servers.
Six Legions. Sixty creators. Two factions.
Now we find out whether anybody remembered to level a Cleric.
