There are two ways to prepare for the return of a terrifying dragon in an MMORPG.
The first involves better equipment, carefully organised raid groups and several evenings learning how to avoid attacks that appear specifically designed to punish the person standing furthest away from the healer.
The second involves finding the perfect outfit.
NC has apparently decided that both approaches deserve recognition.
Alongside Ludra's return to AION 2 Global on November 4, the developer is launching the Ludra Outfit Contest, a community fashion competition offering a first-place prize of 6,000 Quna.
Players are invited to create an outfit inspired by Ludra, experiment with dyes, find a suitable location somewhere in Atreia and capture the result in a single in-game screenshot.
There is no dungeon clear requirement, no minimum Item Level and no need to persuade nine other people to arrive at the same place at the same time.
For some adventurers, that may make this the most attractive Ludra event of all.
Ludra Outfit Contest Dates and All Rewards
The competition begins on November 4, 2026, at 15:00 CET, coinciding with Ludra's return, and closes on November 18 at 08:59 CET.
NC has announced four winning categories, including a separate award determined by votes from the community.
| Placement | Reward | How It Is Decided |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Place | 6,000 Quna | Community managers |
| 2nd Place | 3,000 Quna | Community managers |
| 3rd Place | 1,000 Quna | Community managers |
| Community's Choice | 3,000 Quna | Most Discord upvotes |
| Participation | 2 Dye Tokens | Valid participation |
The three judged placements will be selected by NC's community managers, who will consider originality and creativity.
Community's Choice works differently. That prize goes to the submission receiving the most upvotes on Discord, giving players a reason to browse the other entries and support their favourites.
There will be no duplicate winners, so a single player cannot collect multiple winning prizes.
NC plans to deliver rewards through account mail by November 25 at 23:59 PST. The announcement does not specify an earlier guaranteed delivery time for individual winners.
Two Dye Tokens may not sound particularly impressive alongside 6,000 Quna, but at least participation offers something tangible even if your masterpiece fails to convince the judges that a purple helmet is the height of dragon-inspired sophistication.
How to Enter the Ludra Outfit Contest
The rules are straightforward, although one particular restriction deserves special attention.
To participate, players must create a Ludra-themed appearance using their character's outfit and dyes, capture a screenshot directly inside AION 2 and submit it through the official Discord community.
NC requires the following information alongside the entry:
- Region: Your AION 2 Global region.
- Server: The server where your character is located.
- Character Name: Your character's in-game name.
Only one screenshot per player will be considered. Choose your final image carefully rather than uploading an entire holiday album documenting every angle of your character's new boots.
The official rules also state that image editing and AI-generated images are not permitted.
That means the submitted picture must be an authentic in-game screenshot. Do not use an image generator to recreate your character, combine screenshots into a montage or digitally alter the result before submitting it.
For this competition, the photograph is part of the challenge. The outfit, dyes, character pose and surrounding environment should do the work themselves.
You can find the official instructions through the Ludra Awakens announcement. Check the AION 2 Discord event channel once submissions open for its current posting instructions.
There is an important difference between this contest and the earlier Daeva Makeover competition. That event concentrated on character creation and required two screenshots from the Closet menu. Ludra Outfit Contest asks for a single themed image, with the environment explicitly encouraged as part of the composition.
Anyone accustomed to the previous submission rules should not simply reuse the same format.
What Makes a Good Ludra-Themed Outfit?
NC has not published a detailed scoring sheet, so there is no official formula for creating a winning outfit. That is probably fortunate, considering the strange things that happen when somebody attempts to assign numerical values to fashion.
What the announcement does establish is that originality and creativity matter.
The theme is Ludra, but that does not necessarily mean every character should attempt to become an exact miniature copy of the dragon.
You could take inspiration from the creature's imposing silhouette, its dark scales, dramatic wings or the magical atmosphere associated with its Sanctuary encounter.
A heavily armoured warrior might build an intimidating dragon-hunter appearance. A Sorcerer could use an elegant combination of dark fabric and luminous accents to evoke the encounter's supernatural atmosphere. Another player might create something more theatrical: a character dressed as though Ludra had somehow developed a taste for expensive formalwear.
Those are creative suggestions rather than official contest categories. NC is not requiring a particular class, equipment set or dye combination.
Our Founder's Pack cosmetics report covers several distinctive armour and weapon appearances, including the Black Dragon pet and the Moonlit Aria armour skin. Players who already own suitable cosmetics may find interesting combinations without needing to purchase an entirely new outfit.
There are also seasonal items worth examining. The AION 2 Halloween event offers a skeleton-themed breastplate appearance, providing another possibility for characters who prefer something more sinister than conventional heroic armour.
The important thing is to give the outfit a recognisable identity rather than simply equipping every rare cosmetic in your collection at once.
Sometimes a restrained colour scheme and a strong silhouette are more memorable than seventeen glowing accessories fighting for attention.
Why the Screenshot Location Matters
Unlike Daeva Makeover, this competition explicitly encourages players to use Atreia's environments to improve their presentation.
That opens up considerably more possibilities.
A ruined fortress could provide a suitable setting for a dark, battle-worn character. A grand staircase might work beautifully with a formal outfit, while a moonlit landscape could give a mysterious dragon-inspired design the atmosphere it deserves.
Lighting matters too. Bright environments can reveal the textures and colours of an outfit, but they can also make pale armour disappear into the background. Darker locations can create dramatic contrast, although the judges still need to see the character clearly.
Try several locations before selecting the final screenshot. Consider whether the background complements your design or competes with it.
Players familiar with the Beauty of Atreia screenshot competitions will recognise the principle. A successful image needs more than an interesting subject; framing and presentation can transform an ordinary screenshot into something memorable.
But remember the restriction on editing. Make the composition work inside the game itself, rather than planning to repair it afterwards in an image editor.
Another Side of Ludra's Return
The Outfit Contest is part of a much larger November celebration surrounding Sanctuary Raid: Ludra.
On November 4, the redesigned raid opens in Normal and Hard Mode, requiring Item Levels of 2,800 and 3,000 respectively. Organised groups can also compete for exclusive first-clear titles through Ludra Hunt.
We covered those requirements and rewards in our Ludra Returns November 4 report.
For players more interested in collecting rewards than competing for regional raid rankings, NC is also preparing fourteen Twitch Drops milestones and a new login reward track, including cosmetics and progression materials.
That contrast is what makes Ludra's return interesting. One group of players will spend the opening evening calculating damage, preparing strategies and trying to become the first people in their region to defeat an ancient dragon.
Another group will be looking for the perfect wall against which to photograph their new outfit.
Both are participating in the same celebration, and neither activity is particularly unusual by MMORPG standards.
After all, character appearance has been part of AION's identity since the original game. Long before AION 2 introduced its elaborate customisation options, players were already treating Atreia as an enormous fantasy wardrobe with occasional interruptions from hostile monsters.
The Ludra Outfit Contest gives that tradition a new theme, substantial prizes and a public stage.
Entries open on November 4 and close on November 18, so there is still time to experiment with dyes, gather cosmetics and find a suitably dramatic corner of Atreia.
And if you are going to challenge a dragon, there is a certain logic to making sure you look magnificent while doing it.
Even if the dragon remains entirely unimpressed.
