Getting the perfect weapon in an MMORPG is one thing. Getting the perfect statistics on that weapon is another matter entirely, and often a considerably more expensive one. AION 2 players know the feeling particularly well. After hours of dungeon farming, you finally obtain an excellent piece of equipment, only to discover that one of its Soul Binding bonuses appears to have been selected by a Shugo with a rather questionable sense of humour.

Fortunately, AION 2 has a system for correcting that problem. Unfortunately, players would quite like more opportunities to use it.

During the November 6 Beyond the Abyss livestream, senior producer Gator responded to requests for better access to AION 2 Sync Stones, which allow players to replace individual Soul Binding statistics without rerolling every bonus on their equipment.

According to AION2 Dex's detailed recap of the broadcast, Gator acknowledged the demand and said he would discuss the matter with Void. When asked why Sync Stones were not included among Ludra's rewards, he admitted that he did not know and would investigate with the development team.

That is not confirmation of a new reward system, but it does put one of AION 2's more frustrating equipment problems directly on the developers' agenda.

Why AION 2 Sync Stones Matter for Soul Binding

The importance of Sync Stones becomes clearer when examining AION 2's Soul Binding system. Equipment can carry several valuable bonus statistics, but obtaining exactly the combination your character needs often involves considerable experimentation and expense.

As explained in our AION 2 Soul Binding Guide, three operations serve different purposes. Bind improves the values of existing statistics, Reset rerolls the normal bonus lines together, and Sync targets one selected line while preserving the others.

Imagine finding a Unique weapon with three excellent offensive bonuses and one completely unsuitable defensive statistic. Resetting the entire item might remove the unwanted bonus, but it could also destroy the combination that made the weapon valuable in the first place. Sync offers a more controlled alternative, although the replacement statistic remains random and success conditions still matter.

The problem is obtaining suitable materials. Players can use compatible sacrificial equipment or Sync Stones, but neither option is necessarily cheap. Our Substance Morph Guide documents an existing route for creating Sync Stone (Unique) from eligible equipment or an appropriate Gear Change Voucher. Those conversions consume the selected materials, meaning that every attempt carries an opportunity cost.

This helps explain the requests raised during the livestream. Players are not necessarily asking NC to eliminate randomness or let them select perfect statistics freely. They want more practical access to a system designed to correct individual mistakes without risking their entire equipment build.

It is also important to distinguish Soul Binding from other equipment systems. Manastones and Soulstones follow different rerolling rules, as detailed in our Manastone and Soulstone Guide. AION 2 has developed an impressive collection of ways to improve equipment, although remembering which button consumes which expensive materials sometimes feels like its own endgame activity.

Will AION 2 Ludra Rewards Include More Sync Stones?

The question about Ludra is particularly interesting because the redesigned Abyssal Forge encounter represents one of AION 2 Global's most demanding progression challenges. Normal requires Item Level 2,800, while Hard requires 3,000, and both difficulties offer valuable equipment opportunities.

Our Ludra Bracelet Guide explains how the encounter's voucher system provides a deliberate route towards Ludra's Bracelet, rather than leaving every important reward entirely to random drops.

But acquiring powerful equipment is only the beginning. Players still need to develop its statistics, improve appropriate bonuses and decide whether further investment makes sense. Adding Sync Stones to an endgame reward pool could potentially connect difficult raid progression with the materials needed to optimise the equipment obtained there.

For now, however, NC has not announced additional Sync Stone drops, revised reward tables or new acquisition methods. Gator's response was a commitment to investigate the requests, not a promise that Ludra's loot table will change in the next update.

Players should therefore continue using the existing systems while considering how long they expect to keep their current equipment. As our Gear Transfer Guide explains, not every equipment investment survives a future replacement, making expensive optimisation a decision best reserved for items with a meaningful lifespan.

The larger issue is familiar to anyone who has spent years playing MMORPGs. Random statistics can make a rare drop exciting, but correcting one unfortunate bonus should not necessarily become a more exhausting adventure than defeating the monster that dropped the equipment.

Whether Gator's comments lead to more accessible Sync Stones remains to be seen. But at least the developers have heard the question.

And somewhere in Atreia, a Shugo is probably hoping they do not make the answer too generous. After all, somebody has to keep the equipment economy wonderfully complicated.
