AION 2 Warning: Don’t Open the Duty Tab Before Level 45

AION 2 has plenty of complicated systems to learn, but one of the most useful pieces of launch advice is currently wonderfully simple:

Do not open the Duty tab on your Map before reaching level 45.

NC has confirmed a known bug where accessing the Duty tab too early can prevent Duties from becoming available when your character actually reaches level 45. If you trigger the problem, the feature may remain unavailable until the following day.

So for once, progression efficiency involves deliberately refusing to look at a menu.

What Is the AION 2 Level 45 Duty Bug?

The issue occurs when a player opens the Duty tab from the Map before reaching level 45.

Normally, Duties become part of your progression once the relevant level requirement has been reached. With the current bug, however, opening that menu prematurely can interfere with the unlock. You may then reach level 45 only to find that Duties are still unavailable.

NC says affected players may need to wait until the following day before the system becomes accessible again.

The good news is that avoiding the bug is extremely easy:

  • Do not open the Map's Duty tab before level 45.
  • Continue leveling normally.
  • Wait until you have reached level 45 before checking Duties.

There is no complicated setting to disable and no item you need to preserve. You simply need to resist the natural MMO instinct to click every tab containing an exclamation mark.

What If You Already Opened the Duty Tab?

If you already opened it before level 45 and Duties fail to unlock when you reach the required level, NC's current known-issues notice indicates that access should return the following day.

There is currently no official instant workaround listed, so repeatedly reopening the menu, restarting the client or sacrificing three Enhancement Stones to the MMO gods is unlikely to improve matters.

The sensible option is to continue working on the other progression systems available to you and check Duties again the next day.

There Is Plenty Else to Do at Level 45

Fortunately, Duties are only one part of AION 2's early endgame progression.

If you have just reached the level cap, our AION 2 Fast Gearing Guide explains how to turn your first proper gear set into usable progression without wasting Enhancement materials on equipment you are about to replace.

Weapon Enhancement, Manastones, Daevanion progression, Expeditions and guaranteed reward sources all begin to matter considerably more once leveling stops carrying your character forward automatically.

We also recommend going through our 10 AION 2 Things You Should Learn Early guide, particularly if you are approaching level 45 quickly. AION 2 hides a surprising number of useful inventory, storage and progression tools behind small buttons that are very easy to miss.

Do Not Waste Resources While Waiting

One mistake would be responding to a temporary Duty lockout by throwing materials at every piece of equipment currently in your bags.

AION 2's gearing systems reward patience. Some items are worth enhancing heavily, while others exist mainly to get you into the next activity. Spending thousands of stones improving equipment that will disappear after your next Expedition is rarely a good recovery plan.

Instead, use the downtime to work through exploration objectives, organize your storage, progress persistent systems and farm repeatable PvE that still provides useful rewards.

The same principle applies throughout early progression: permanent power is usually more valuable than making one temporary equipment slot slightly prettier.

NC Is Still Tracking Launch Issues

The Duty problem is part of NC's current list of known Advanced Access issues, which the company says will continue to be updated as problems are discovered and resolved.

That list has already changed several times during launch. NC recently fixed Steam Advanced Access recognition and purchase problems, although some account-linking issues have required separate investigation.

With the full free-to-play launch bringing another large wave of players into Atreia, small bugs like this are worth knowing about before they become considerably less small when several thousand people discover them at once.

The Short Version

If you are below level 45, leave the Duty tab alone.

If you already opened it and Duties do not appear when you reach level 45, wait until the following day and check again.

And if the temptation to explore every menu becomes overwhelming, remember that AION 2 currently rewards one very specific form of self-control:

Sometimes the correct button to press is no button at all.
