AION 2 Best Field Bosses to Farm: Loot, Locations and Priority Guide

AION 2 has plenty of Field Bosses. That does not mean every one of them deserves the same amount of your evening.

The useful bosses are the ones that stack several kinds of progression at once: valuable reward chests, Abyss Points, high Item Level gear, Artwork Scraps and items that remain useful even when the direct drop is not. Once that is understood, Field Boss farming stops being a tour of random icons and becomes a very clear priority system.

This guide focuses on the bosses and reward loops that give the strongest return for your time. If your character is still climbing toward the Item Level needed to join these fights comfortably, start with our Fast Gearing Guide and PvE Gear Progression Guide first.

1. Learn the Field Boss Tracker Before You Farm Anything

The first tool is already inside the map. Open Map, move to Exploration and select the Field Boss section. From here you can check which bosses are available, where they spawn and when they are expected.

This matters because crowded Global servers turn popular bosses into extremely short events. An overworld boss can disappear in seconds once the group arrives. The practical strategy is therefore not to arrive when the timer reaches zero. Arrive before it, position yourself close enough to attack immediately, and make getting a tag your first priority.

The tracker also makes it possible to build a route instead of teleporting blindly between zones. Check the next spawn, finish a dungeon or another piece of progression, then move before the window opens. Our Weekly Reset Guide is built around the same idea: the more systems you can stack into one play session, the less time AION 2 spends turning into a second job.

Use Map → Exploration → Field Boss to check spawn locations and timers before moving. On busy servers, arriving early is far more useful than arriving exactly on time.

2. Abyss Field Bosses Should Be Your First Priority

If you can participate safely, Abyss bosses are the strongest overall priority because their value goes beyond a single equipment drop.

The current boss pool includes targets such as Watcher Kaira, Executor Tartiana, Argo the Spirit King and Guardian Lord Nahma. Watcher Kaira, for example, appears around the Black Fragments area. The important reward is Proof of Hero, which can be taken into Substance Morph and converted through the Special recipes into boss-specific Merit Reward Chests.

Those chests create a second reward layer after the boss itself. The reward preview shows guaranteed Abyss Points, with a base Merit Chest granting 600 AP, plus a small chance at Unique equipment. That is why Abyss bosses remain attractive even when the direct drop is not something your current build needs.

Abyss Points feed another progression economy entirely, so these bosses fit naturally beside the gearing route described in our AION 2 Dungeons and PvE Guide rather than replacing dungeon progression.

Abyss Field Bosses are worth tracking separately because their reward loop includes Proof of Hero and Merit Chests, not only the immediate boss drop.

Proof of Hero Turns One Boss Kill Into Another Reward

Do not let Proof of Hero sit in storage because the icon does not look exciting. Open Substance Morph, move to the Special section and check the boss-specific Merit Chest recipes.

The important part is that the reward is predictable enough to plan around. The Merit Chest shown in the Global client guarantees Abyss Points and includes a 1 percent chance at Unique gear. One percent is not the sort of number around which sensible people build retirement plans, but it is still an additional roll attached to content you were already doing.

For players trying to push multiple progression systems at once, that is exactly what makes Abyss bosses efficient: boss loot, Abyss progression and a second chest roll all come from the same activity.

Proof of Hero can be converted through Substance Morph → Special into boss Merit Chests, adding a second reward layer to Abyss boss farming.

3. Immortal Gartua Is the Overworld Boss to Watch

Outside the Abyss, Immortal Gartua is the standout target.

Gartua is not sitting beside the nearest road waiting politely for you. The route begins with the teleport point leading toward Remote Island in Altgard, followed by the ocean windstream that carries you toward the boss location. The important part is to learn the route before the spawn window rather than experimenting with travel while everybody else is already hitting the boss.

Gartua's Lost Chest is where the farming value becomes obvious. The reward chest guarantees Artwork Scraps and includes a 25 percent chance at Unique gear, with Item Level 70 equipment shown in the reward pool. That is a meaningful difference from farming a boss simply because it happens to be alive.

If you are already following our Fast Gearing Guide, Gartua is the kind of target that makes sense once your basic set is stable and you are hunting pieces with enough lifespan to justify real Enhancement investment.

Immortal Gartua is reached through the Remote Island route in Altgard. Learn the teleport and windstream path before the spawn rather than after it begins.

Gartua's Loot Is Valuable Because It Can Last

The Item Level 70 gear shown from Gartua is important because later equipment finally begins to justify heavier Enhancement spending. Our progression guide recommends being cautious with temporary Item Level 54 pieces while becoming much more comfortable investing in Item Level 70 gear.

That makes Gartua different from an early boss whose reward is replaced the moment the next quest chain finishes. A useful Gartua piece can contribute both immediate Item Level and longer-term value.

The reward preview is also why Lost Chests matter. Even when the exact equipment piece is not right for your class or current slot, Artwork Scraps remain part of the reward structure, and unwanted boss items can have another use later through Supply Requests.

Gartua can feed the Item Level 70 stage of progression, which makes his useful gear much easier to justify enhancing than disposable early equipment.

4. The Other Altgard Bosses Worth Keeping on Your Route

Gartua should be high on the list, but he is not the only useful overworld target. The Field Boss tracker also makes it easy to watch High Commander Lagla, Soul Ruler Kashapa and Silent Dartan.

The correct priority between them is less about pretending one universal ranking fits every character and more about timing. If Gartua is forty minutes away but another worthwhile boss is spawning in three minutes, take the boss that is actually available. Field Boss farming becomes efficient when it fills the spaces between other activities instead of replacing the entire evening.

This is also where our 10 AION 2 Things You Should Learn Early guide becomes relevant. AION 2 rewards players who recognize permanent and repeatable progression systems early. A good Field Boss route is simply another version of that rule: take the high-value opportunities when the map gives them to you.

Keep several worthwhile bosses on your tracker. The best practical target is often the strong boss that is spawning next, not the theoretically perfect boss forty minutes away.

5. Never Throw Away Duplicate Boss Gear Before Checking Supply Requests

One of the easiest mistakes is assuming an unwanted boss drop has failed.

Before selling, extracting or otherwise disposing of duplicate Field Boss equipment, check the Abyss Supply Request board, particularly Regular: Boss. Boss items can be submitted through these requests for large amounts of Abyss Points.

That changes how you should evaluate loot. A duplicate is not automatically dead inventory. A piece that is useless to your build may still represent substantial progress toward the Abyss Point purchases you actually want.

Put questionable boss drops in storage until you have checked the request board. It takes considerably less time than discovering two days later that yesterday's useless helmet was effectively a pile of currency wearing a helmet-shaped disguise.

Abyss Supply Request (Regular: Boss) gives duplicate or unwanted boss equipment another purpose. Check the board before destroying valuable turn-in items.

6. Artwork Scraps Are the Long-Term Reason to Keep Farming

The most important horizontal reward from Field Bosses may be Artwork Scraps.

Artwork Scraps can be used through Substance Morph to create Pantheon Artworks. The recipes shown in the Global client scale sharply: Blue Artwork requires 1,000 scraps, Gold requires 5,000 and Heroic requires 20,000.

Those totals explain why Artwork progression should be viewed as a long-term accumulation system rather than something you finish during one enthusiastic Saturday. The resulting Artworks provide passive bonuses, with the available rewards covering stats and categories such as HP, Destiny, Mission and Life bonuses.

This is permanent progression, which means every boss that contributes scraps retains some value even after its direct equipment table becomes less exciting. It follows the same logic as Daevanion and other horizontal systems explained in our Combat Stats Guide: gear changes, permanent account and character bonuses keep paying you.

Artwork Scrap recipes scale from 1,000 for Blue to 5,000 for Gold and 20,000 for Heroic, turning Field Boss farming into a long-term horizontal progression system.

7. Gold and Unique Drops Are the Jackpot, Not the Entire Plan

High-quality equipment is obviously the exciting part of Field Boss farming, and the reward pools can include Gold or Unique-quality drops. But farming becomes much less frustrating when you stop treating a rare direct drop as the only successful outcome.

A good boss run can still provide Artwork Scraps, Proof of Hero, Supply Request material or Abyss Points through the surrounding systems. Those secondary rewards are what make repeated farming sustainable.

This is particularly important once your current gear is already decent. At that point, the chance that one boss drops exactly the slot and item you need becomes smaller, while permanent progression remains useful. If you are unsure whether a new piece actually improves the build, compare it using the stat priorities in our AION 2 Combat Stats Guide rather than equipping it purely because the color is prettier.

Rare Gold or Unique equipment is the exciting roll, but the strongest Field Boss farms remain worthwhile even when that jackpot does not appear.

The Best AION 2 Field Boss Priority

If several bosses are available and you simply want a practical order, use this:

1. Abyss Field Bosses when you can participate, because Proof of Hero and Abyss Points add extra progression layers.

2. Immortal Gartua, especially while Item Level 70 gear can still improve your character.

3. High Commander Lagla, Soul Ruler Kashapa and Silent Dartan when their timers fit your route.

4. Other Field Bosses when they are convenient and contribute Artwork Scraps or useful Supply Request items.

Do not interpret that as a reason to ignore a boss standing directly in front of you because Gartua exists somewhere else. Travel time and spawn timing are part of efficiency.

Field Boss farming works best when layered over the rest of AION 2. Check the tracker, move early, tag quickly, keep useful turn-ins, and let Artwork Scraps build over time. Combine that routine with the dungeon progression in our PvE Gear Progression Guide and the weekly structure in our Weekly Reset Guide, and bosses become another reliable progression lane instead of a collection of icons you occasionally remember to click.

The best Field Boss routine combines direct gear, repeatable currencies and permanent progression. Judge the whole reward loop, not only the item that lands in the inventory.

The short version is simple: farm bosses that keep paying you even when the gear roll misses.

Abyss bosses do that through Proof of Hero and Abyss Points. Gartua does it through strong chest rewards and Artwork Scraps. Supply Requests rescue duplicate loot from becoming vendor trash. Artwork progression turns dozens of individually ordinary kills into permanent bonuses.

The boss itself may only live for a few seconds.

The useful part is everything that remains after it dies.
