Most MMORPG bosses only get one chance to make a first impression. They appear, terrify a few adventurers, and eventually find themselves surrounded by ten heavily armed players discussing loot distribution. Ludra, however, has already enjoyed the unusual experience of being defeated, temporarily removed, redesigned and sent back into battle.
Now the dragon is getting its own developer livestream.
AION 2 Beyond the Abyss returns on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 10:00 PST / 19:00 CET with a special Ludra Awakens Update. NC has confirmed that the broadcast will share more details about Ludra's return, which took place just two days earlier.
Players can follow the scheduled broadcast through the official Beyond the Abyss: Ludra Awakens Update livestream.
AION 2 Beyond the Abyss Returns November 6 at 19:00 CET
The timing is particularly interesting. Sanctuary Raid: Ludra returned to AION 2 Global on November 4 after NC spent several weeks revising an encounter that European players had defeated earlier in their progression than the developers intended.
Rather than simply giving the dragon a larger health bar and hoping nobody noticed, NC revised its mechanics and prepared a fresh challenge for Global players. Our original Ludra Raid Preview explains the unusual history behind its return.
The redesigned encounter launched with two difficulties. Normal requires Item Level 2,800, while Hard requires 3,000. Both have a 60-minute time limit, and NC has emphasised that meeting the entry requirements does not guarantee a successful clear.
The new broadcast gives the developers an opportunity to discuss Ludra shortly after players began tackling the revised encounter. However, NC has not published a detailed programme or confirmed that the livestream will introduce additional balance changes, rewards or future content.
For now, the announcement promises more information about Ludra's return. Anything beyond that remains unconfirmed.
What Should AION 2 Players Watch for During the Ludra Stream?
Perhaps the biggest question is whether the redesigned encounter has achieved what NC originally intended. Ludra was supposed to provide a substantial challenge, yet its first appearance ended rather sooner than planned. With new mechanics and a dedicated Hard Mode, the developers have another opportunity to make the dragon memorable for something other than its unexpectedly short career.
There is also the question of rewards. The November 4 update introduced the Abyssal Bracelet and Ludra's Bracelet, with Amplify limits of 3 and 5 respectively. Our Ludra Bracelet Guide explains their acquisition routes, including the system allowing players to exchange six Normal vouchers or three Hard vouchers for Ludra's Bracelet.
Meanwhile, the Ludra Hunt competition is giving the first twenty successful Hard Mode parties in each region a chance to earn exclusive titles. Whether NC discusses the early results of that competition during tonight's broadcast remains to be seen.
Players who are not yet prepared for Ludra still have reasons to follow the wider celebration. The Ludra Conquest Check-In event offers seven attendance rewards, while the separate Ludra Twitch Drops campaign provides rewards through eligible Twitch viewing. Watching the YouTube developer broadcast should not automatically be assumed to count towards Twitch Drops.
For those still improving their equipment, the recently increased Exploration Dungeon rewards offer another route towards obtaining valuable progression materials.
Ultimately, tonight's Beyond the Abyss broadcast is an opportunity to hear more about a raid with one of the stranger development histories in AION 2's young life. Whether Ludra has finally become the terrifying adversary NC originally imagined is something players will discover for themselves.
After all, not many MMORPG dragons get sent back to the drawing board after losing their first major fight. Ludra has been given a second chance, and now its developers have an entire livestream to explain why.
