AION 2 Adds $30 Outfits and $12 Weapon Skins – What's Included?

Fashion has always been serious business in AION. Long before the sequel arrived, players were already spending extraordinary amounts of time adjusting armour appearances, experimenting with colours and making sure their characters looked appropriately magnificent before heading into battle. AION 2 Global has continued that tradition, although its latest additions come with a more straightforward requirement: a credit card.

NC's October 28 update introduced two premium outfit sets, Vulpine Sunshower and No-Nonsense Maid, each priced at $29.99 in the PURPLE Store. The Secret Teatime collection adds eight class-specific weapon skins at $11.99 each, alongside separately sold pets, wings and accessories.

The prices themselves are not the only interesting part. The two outfits contain different numbers of pieces, some matching accessories cost extra, and ownership restrictions vary between products. NC also confirms that the new armour and weapon skins do not award Collection Points.

Before spending anything, it is worth examining exactly what each purchase provides. After all, there is a considerable difference between buying a complete appearance and discovering that the wings, hairband and weapon shown alongside it are three separate products.

Vulpine Sunshower and No-Nonsense Maid: What Does $29.99 Buy?

The two main outfit sets share the same price but not the same contents. Vulpine Sunshower includes six armour appearances, while No-Nonsense Maid contains four.

Outfit Set Price Included Items Mileage
Vulpine Sunshower $29.99 Breastplate, Greaves, Helm, Gloves, Boots, Cloak 4,350
No-Nonsense Maid $29.99 Breastplate, Greaves, Gloves, Boots 4,350

That difference is important if you are hoping to recreate the appearance shown in NC's promotional material. The No-Nonsense Maid package does not contain a hairband, cloak or wings. The Dark Maid Hairband and Maid Ribbon Wings are available separately, and neither should be mistaken for part of the $29.99 costume.

Both sets are available through Shop > Atelier > Outfit Sets > Skins, with access also provided through the Closet's shop interface. Characters must be at least level 2 to purchase them.

After purchase, the outfit is delivered to Shop Storage on the purchasing character's server. Claiming it unlocks the corresponding appearances in Closet – Armor. NC specifies that the sets can only be used on the server where the purchasing character resides, so they should not be treated as universal account-wide cosmetic unlocks across all Global servers.

The armour pieces support customization, although NC warns that available customization areas and the final appearance may vary. The design also adapts to the gender of the character wearing it.

These items cannot be traded, deleted or stored through the usual inventory functions once claimed. More importantly, neither outfit awards Collection Points. Players are purchasing the appearance, not an additional collection progression reward.

That distinction makes the purchase easier to evaluate. If you like the design and expect to use it regularly, the value is personal. If you are looking for another way to improve your character's statistics, these particular armour skins are not advertised as providing that benefit.

Character appearance already has a dedicated following in AION 2. Our Daeva Makeover coverage explored how seriously players approach the character creator, even when there is no dungeon reward involved. The Atelier's new arrivals appeal to that same enthusiasm, this time through the paid shop.

Secret Teatime Weapon Skins Cost $11.99 Each

The Secret Teatime collection follows a slightly different model. Rather than purchasing one package that unlocks appearances for every class, players buy a skin compatible with their own character's weapon.

NC has announced eight variants, one for each playable class:

Class Weapon Skin
GladiatorSecret Teatime Greatsword
TemplarSecret Teatime Longsword
AssassinSecret Teatime Dagger
RangerSecret Teatime Bow
SorcererSecret Teatime Spellbook
SpiritmasterSecret Teatime Orb
ClericSecret Teatime Mace
ChanterSecret Teatime Staff

Each variant costs $11.99 and awards 1,750 Mileage. NC restricts purchases to characters of the appropriate class, with a minimum character level of 2.

Weapon skins are found under Shop > Atelier > Weapon/Wings/Pet > Weapon Skin. After claiming them from Shop Storage, they become available through Closet – Weapons for the purchasing character on the relevant server.

As with the outfit sets, NC lists the weapon appearances as customizable and non-tradable. They also provide no Collection Points.

The official product notice does not advertise additional weapon damage or combat statistics for these skins. Their stated purpose is to change the appearance of the weapon, not to replace the equipment progression system.

This is an important distinction in a game whose monetization has already attracted scrutiny. As we discussed in our original AION 2 Membership and Monetization report, NC's Global business model includes paid access to certain economic systems alongside optional purchases. Some of those systems were subsequently revised before launch, but the broader question remains relevant: what is a player actually receiving in exchange for spending money?

In the case of Secret Teatime, the answer is a class-specific appearance and the associated Mileage. Whether that is worth $11.99 depends entirely on how much the player likes the design.

The Real Cost of a Complete Outfit – Pets, Wings and Accessories

The October 28 shop update also introduces two pets, a separate wing appearance and eleven smaller decorative products. Their prices and restrictions are not identical to those of the main outfit sets.

Product Price Purchase Rule
Azure Flame Kumiho Pet $19.99 Once per server, level 10+
Glossy Pink Puppy Pet $19.99 Once per server, level 10+
Maid Ribbon Wings $19.99 Once per character, level 5+
Black Crow Mask 300 Quna Level 2+
Dark Maid Hairband 300 Quna Level 2+
Eyewear, earrings and necklaces 300 Quna each Level 2+; non-customizable items limited to once per server

The two pets are delivered through Shop Storage, with their contents accessible through the Pets menu after claiming. Unlike the armour and weapon skins, these products belong to AION 2's pet system. NC's cosmetic announcement does not provide enough information to establish their exact Pet Insight or Genus progression contribution, so players should inspect the live item descriptions rather than assume they behave like ordinary armour appearances.

Our Pet and Genus Insight Guide explains why the distinction matters: pets are connected to a longer-term progression system in which collecting and developing companions can affect character statistics.

They are also a popular subject in their own right, as demonstrated by the Beauty of Atreia Pet Contest, where players competed using screenshots of their favourite companions.

The Maid Ribbon Wings have different rules again. They cost $19.99, require level 5 and can be purchased once per character. After claiming the item from Shop Storage, the player must use it from the Cube before the appearance becomes available in the Wings menu. NC explicitly states that characters that did not purchase the wings cannot use them.

That makes the complete maid-themed appearance considerably more expensive than the original costume's advertised price.

Consider a player buying the following products:

  • No-Nonsense Maid outfit: $29.99
  • Maid Ribbon Wings: $19.99
  • One Secret Teatime weapon skin: $11.99
  • Dark Maid Hairband: 300 Quna

The first three purchases total $61.97 at PURPLE Store prices, with another 300 Quna required for the hairband. The total excludes any additional eyewear or jewellery, and it is not a single official bundle offered by NC.

This is perhaps the most revealing detail of the update. A $29.99 outfit may be the starting point for a particular character design rather than the complete cost of achieving it.

Players should also note that the accessories follow their own rules. The Black Crow Mask and Dark Maid Hairband support customization, while the eyewear and jewellery listed in the announcement do not. NC limits purchases of non-customizable accessories to once per server, and the items are delivered to the appropriate Closet menu for the purchasing character.

None of this means players must buy everything. AION 2 already offers cosmetic appearances through gameplay and events. Our Halloween Event Guide covers the skeleton-themed appearance available through seasonal rewards, while the Halloween Twitch Drops Guide explains how to obtain the Chubby Panda Helm by watching eligible streams.

There is also the upcoming Ludra Outfit Contest, which begins November 4 and offers a first-place prize of 6,000 Quna for a creative, Ludra-inspired character design. Expensive cosmetics may provide interesting building blocks, but NC's published contest criteria focus on creativity and originality rather than the amount spent in the shop.

The October 28 cosmetic lineup is scheduled to remain available until the November 11 maintenance in Europe. NC also states that the products may return in the same or a similar form later, so the end of the current sales period should not be presented as guaranteed permanent exclusivity.

Before buying, players should check the live shop for regional pricing, confirm exactly which items are included and pay particular attention to whether ownership is restricted to a server or an individual character. Those details are considerably more important than the polished promotional screenshots might initially suggest.

There is nothing inherently wrong with selling optional character appearances. AION has always attracted players who care deeply about how their characters look, and that interest is unlikely to disappear simply because the wardrobe now has a real-money price tag.

But transparency matters. When a costume, matching wings, weapon and accessories are sold separately, players deserve to understand the full cost before making a purchase.

Atreia may be facing another war, but its fashion industry seems remarkably confident about the future.

And as any experienced Daeva knows, looking magnificent is one thing. Paying for every individual piece of magnificence is quite another.
