AION 2 War for Atreia Ends: Asmodians Win as Team Stoopzz Claims Victory

For nearly two decades, the Elyos and Asmodians have been arguing about who truly deserves to rule Atreia. Traditionally, the discussion has involved enormous swords, spectacular wings and an impressive amount of shouting in PvP chat. With AION 2's War for Atreia, NC decided to introduce something considerably more dangerous: a scoreboard.

And now the numbers are final.

The Asmodians have officially won AION 2's War for Atreia creator competition, defeating the Elyos by 8,781 points to 8,169. Team Stoopzz also claimed first place in the individual Legion standings with 3,562 points, although its North American rivals, Team Sonii, finished just six points behind. After more than two weeks of dungeon runs, PvP battles, special objectives and streaming, the entire Legion championship was decided by a margin smaller than the reward for some individual event activities.

For a competition involving 60 content creators across three regions, that is a wonderfully absurd way to finish.

Asmodians Win the War for Atreia

When we examined the War for Atreia standings on October 13, the Asmodians already held a 661-point advantage. The Elyos still had opportunities to close the gap before the October 15 Ascension Ceremony, but the final results confirmed that the darker half of Atreia had maintained its lead.

The official final faction scores are:

  • Asmodians: 8,781 points (Winners)
  • Elyos: 8,169 points
  • Final difference: 612 points

What makes the result interesting is how those points were earned. War for Atreia was never simply a contest to see which faction could collect the largest pile of defeated enemies. As our War for Atreia scoring guide explained before the competition began, progression, PvE, PvP, Twitch participation and special War Orders all contributed to the final standings.

The Asmodians proved particularly effective at combining those activities. Their final score included 2,315 PvE points, 1,764 War Orders points and 1,405 Twitch points. In other words, winning the war required considerably more than being good at hitting an Elyos with a sword.

Team Stoopzz Wins by Just Six Points

While the overall faction victory was relatively comfortable, the individual Legion competition produced a finish that would have seemed unnecessarily dramatic even in a tournament script.

Team Stoopzz finished with 3,562 points. Team Sonii finished with 3,556. Six points separated first and second place after more than two weeks of competition.

The final Legion standings were:

  1. Team Stoopzz (North America, Asmodian): 3,562 points
  2. Team Sonii (North America, Elyos): 3,556 points
  3. Team Wakayashi (Europe, Asmodian): 3,004 points
  4. Team Baggins (Europe, Elyos): 2,381 points
  5. Team Tixinha (Latin America, Elyos): 2,232 points
  6. Team Rakin (Latin America, Asmodian): 2,215 points

Interestingly, Team Sonii actually earned more PvP points than Team Stoopzz, finishing with 406 against 333. Stoopzz compensated with stronger PvE results and War Orders, demonstrating how important the competition's broader scoring system became.

NC had introduced the six captains during the War for Atreia creator draft in September. Back then, the prospect of sixty creators competing across three regions sounded like an elaborate promotional exercise. It has ended with one of the closest finishes imaginable.

Latin America Delivers Another Surprise

North America was not the only region with an interesting finish. In our previous standings report, Team Rakin held a narrow advantage over Team Tixinha. By the end of the competition, however, the Elyos representatives had turned things around.

Team Tixinha finished with 2,232 points, defeating Team Rakin by just 17. Europe produced a rather less dramatic result, with Team Wakayashi defeating Team Baggins by 623 points.

Those differences underline how varied the regional competitions became. North America delivered a photo finish, Latin America produced a late reversal, and Europe gave the Asmodians a substantial advantage that helped secure their overall faction victory.

What War for Atreia Tells Us About AION 2

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the tournament is that its scoring reflected much more of AION 2 than traditional faction warfare. The game still has its Abyss battles, Rifts and Arena combat, where the old Elyos-versus-Asmodians rivalry remains very much alive. But War for Atreia also rewarded dungeon progression, organisation and the ability to coordinate objectives across an entire Legion.

It was a clever way to showcase the Global version during its first weeks. Players following the participating creators saw considerably more than endless PvP encounters, while the competition gave smaller activities a reason to matter.

The event also brought several War for Atreia Twitch Drops campaigns, allowing viewers to collect cosmetics and useful items while following their favourite teams.

And perhaps that is the best thing to come out of the entire competition. The rivalry between Elyos and Asmodians has always been one of AION's defining features, but it works particularly well when players have reasons to care about more than their own faction's kill count.

The Asmodians have won this particular war. Team Stoopzz has earned its place at the top of the Legion rankings. And somewhere on the Elyos side, Team Sonii is probably thinking about those six missing points.

Six points. After two weeks of fighting.

Atreia has rarely been so cruel without involving a dungeon boss.
