AION 2 Chaotic Outer Reshanta Brings Equalized PvP to the Abyss

For almost twenty years, AION has given players a particularly beautiful place to discover that the person attacking them may have considerably better equipment. The Abyss has always combined spectacular aerial combat with the less romantic reality of MMORPG progression: sometimes the outcome is influenced by statistics before anybody has even drawn a weapon.

With the November 4, 2026 Global update, NC is introducing a different approach. AION 2 Chaotic Outer Reshanta is a new PvP area where character stats, skill levels and Stigma levels are standardized, reducing the advantages that normally come from accumulated progression.

The area opens to players at level 45 and provides three hours of base access per week. Additional time can be obtained through Outer Entry Stones, while selected Season Missions and several reward categories give players reasons to participate beyond simply fighting one another.

But there is another side to the announcement. Abyss Points earned through PvP in Outer Reshanta are being reduced by 50%. Artifact Siege is also moving from three events per week to two, although Abyss Corridor rewards are increasing to compensate for the reduced frequency.

It is one of the more substantial PvP adjustments since Global launch, and it raises a question that has followed AION throughout its history: how much should equipment progression matter when two players meet in battle?

AION 2 Chaotic Outer Reshanta: How Equalized PvP Works

NC describes Chaotic Outer Reshanta as a way to reduce disparities in Abyss Point acquisition caused by differences in character progression. Its solution is to standardize several of the systems that normally separate newly developed characters from experienced veterans.

According to the official November 4 Global patch notes, all participating characters receive standardized stats, skill levels and Stigma levels.

That is a meaningful departure from ordinary progression-based PvP. A player with substantially better equipment should no longer enjoy the same raw statistical advantages those upgrades would normally provide, at least where the new system's normalization rules apply.

However, standardized does not mean identical.

NC specifically confirms that class-based stat bonuses and specialization effects from skills and Stigmas continue to apply. A Templar therefore retains its defensive identity, while a Ranger, Cleric or Spiritmaster still brings a different set of abilities to the encounter.

The confirmed rules are straightforward:

Feature Chaotic Outer Reshanta Rule
Minimum level 45
Base entry time 3 hours weekly
Additional time Outer Entry Stones
Character stats Standardized
Skill and Stigma levels Standardized
Class-specific bonuses Still apply
Season Missions Selected objectives supported

There are still limits to what the announcement tells us. NC has not published a complete table of normalized values or a detailed explanation of how every individual character bonus interacts with the system.

It would therefore be premature to claim that all possible equipment-related effects disappear, that matchmaking is perfectly balanced or that the strongest PvP classes will suddenly perform equally.

Our recent AION 2 class rankings analysis demonstrates how differently classes appear across the game's Transcendence, Nightmare and Arena leaderboards. Those results cannot predict the outcome of Chaotic Outer Reshanta, but they illustrate an important distinction: reducing statistical disparities does not remove differences in class abilities, player experience or combat strategy.

A veteran who understands crowd control, positioning and defensive cooldowns is still likely to possess an advantage over someone entering PvP for the first time. That advantage comes from playing the game rather than simply collecting larger numbers on equipment.

The change is especially interesting because the Abyss has already undergone several adjustments during Global's opening month.

NC's October 21 update increased Abyss player capacity and strengthened its bosses and objectives, as covered in our Abyss capacity and boss HP report.

A week later, the developer changed cross-server matchmaking to allow same-faction servers to face one another in the Abyss. Our October 28 matchmaking analysis identified 25 such pairings among the 53 Global Abyss matchups announced at the time.

Those changes should not be confused with the rules of the new area. NC has not provided a complete separate matchmaking breakdown for Chaotic Outer Reshanta in the November 4 patch notes.

Nevertheless, the pattern is clear. NC is revisiting how Global players encounter one another, how progression affects those battles and what rewards PvP should provide.

Three Hours Weekly and a 50% Abyss Point Reduction

Equalized PvP is an attractive idea, but the new area comes with a significant limitation: players receive only three hours of base entry time per week.

That makes Chaotic Outer Reshanta a more deliberately time-limited activity than an unrestricted battlefield. Players can extend their access with Outer Entry Stones, but the November 4 announcement does not specify a universal purchase price, all acquisition methods or the maximum amount of additional time that can be accumulated.

There is also an important naming distinction. NC lists Outer Abyss Rift Stone (Bound) among the area's rewards, while describing extra access through Outer Entry Stones. Until the relationship between those items is clear from the live client, players should not automatically assume that every similarly named Abyss stone is interchangeable.

This matters because AION 2 has already used temporary stones for other Abyss activities. During October's Conquerors of the Abyss event, players could purchase additional Lower Abyss time through a separate system, as detailed in our Conquerors of the Abyss guide.

That event ended on October 28. Its prices and limits should not be copied onto Chaotic Outer Reshanta without fresh confirmation.

The new area offers several reward categories, including Bound Kina, Abyss Points, Common, Rare and Epic equipment, Outer Abyss Rift Stones and bound crafting materials.

NC has not published comprehensive drop rates or guaranteed quantities for these rewards. It is consequently too early to say how efficient the zone will be for equipment farming or Abyss Point progression.

What NC has confirmed is a substantial adjustment to PvP income: Abyss Points earned through PvP in Outer Reshanta are reduced by 50%.

That wording is important. It does not announce a universal 50% reduction to every source of Abyss Points across the game, nor does it establish that the other rewards available within Outer Reshanta are subject to precisely the same calculation.

The combination of standardized stats, limited weekly access and reduced PvP-earned points suggests that NC wants the area to offer more accessible competition without becoming an unlimited shortcut to currency accumulation.

That is a reasonable interpretation of the design, but its practical success remains unproven. The value of a three-hour session will depend on actual encounter frequency, reward distribution, available objectives and how competitive the area becomes.

For players primarily interested in progression, the sensible approach is to compare the new activity with existing Abyss opportunities before spending resources to extend entry time.

Our Weekly Reset Guide provides a broader framework for planning time-limited content, mission rewards and currency purchases. Chaotic Outer Reshanta now becomes another activity competing for a place in that weekly routine.

And there is a familiar irony here. NC is attempting to reduce the importance of character progression inside the new battlefield, while ensuring players still have to think carefully about progression resources before deciding how much time to spend there.

Artifact Siege Moves to Two Days as Abyss Rewards Change

Chaotic Outer Reshanta is the main addition, but NC is also reorganizing several established Abyss activities.

Artifact Siege will now take place twice per week instead of three times, moving to Thursdays and Saturdays at 21:00 on the published event schedule.

The three associated Artifact Bosses – Executor Kaira, Executor Argo and Executor Tamasa – follow the same two-day schedule, with their encounters listed for 21:30.

Activity New Schedule
Artifact Siege Thursday and Saturday, 21:00
Executor Kaira Thursday and Saturday, 21:30
Executor Argo Thursday and Saturday, 21:30
Executor Tamasa Thursday and Saturday, 21:30

These are NC's published schedule times. Players should check the in-game calendar for their Global region rather than assume the displayed hours correspond to one universal time zone.

Reducing Artifact Siege frequency means that organised PvP groups will have fewer opportunities each week to participate in these particular scheduled battles. Missing one of the two events could now mean missing a larger share of the week's available siege activity.

To compensate for the reduced frequency, NC is increasing Abyss Points awarded per Abyss Corridor run by 50%.

This is a separate reward change from the 50% reduction to PvP-earned Abyss Points in Outer Reshanta. The former concerns Abyss Corridor completion rewards; the latter concerns PvP inside the newly introduced area.

It is tempting to assume that receiving 50% more points twice per week perfectly replaces three earlier opportunities. Mathematically, two rewards at 150% of their former value equal three rewards at 100%.

But that calculation only holds under comparable participation and reward conditions. The patch notes do not prove that every player will complete the same number of eligible Corridor runs or receive an identical weekly total.

NC is also adjusting several field-boss timers. Eternal Gartua, Immortal Gartua and High Commander Lagta move from twelve-hour to eleven-hour respawn intervals in their respective faction territories. The Abyss Field Boss Argo, the Spirit King, is listed for two daily appearances at 10:30 and 22:30.

Players who rely on field-boss schedules should review the updated timers. Our Field Boss Farming Guide explains why these encounters remain useful for equipment, Abyss Points and longer-term progression materials.

Taken together, the November 4 changes reflect a broader rethink of AION 2's PvP rewards and participation patterns. The new area offers a more standardized environment, while the established Abyss schedule concentrates major events into fewer weekly windows.

That does not mean traditional progression-based PvP is disappearing. The wider Abyss, Rifts and Arenas still provide different forms of competition, as described in our original AION 2 PvP systems overview.

Instead, NC is adding another option – one where players can test their abilities without the same degree of raw statistical inequality.

Whether that creates genuinely better battles will depend on factors the patch notes cannot settle: class balance, population distribution, group coordination and what happens when real players start looking for advantages the designers did not anticipate.

There is no reason to expect completely fair fights every time. This is still an MMORPG, and the Abyss has never been famous for arranging polite encounters between equally prepared opponents.

But reducing the advantage of accumulated stats is a meaningful experiment in a series where powerful equipment has so often influenced who gets to win.

For almost two decades, AION players have been arguing about whether victory came from skill, gear or simply having more friends nearby.

Chaotic Outer Reshanta may finally remove part of that argument.

Which should leave everyone with considerably more time to argue about class balance.

The notes confirm the new area, standardization rules, entry allowance, reward categories, Abyss Point changes and revised siege and boss schedules. Exact normalization values, reward rates and additional entry-stone rules should be verified in the live Global client.
